10G Xenpak Transceivers
Xenpak is a standardized form factor for 10 Gb/s fiber optic transponders that is used for data transfer rates from 10.3 Gb/s to 10.5 Gb/s. It is protocol-specific:Either 10G Ethernet or 10G Fibre Channel versions are available. X2 transponders are used in datacom optical links only (not telecom), and they are smaller than old generation Xenpak transponders. Its electrical interface to the host board is also standardized and is called XAUI (4 x 3.125 Gb/s).
Designing for 10GBASE-SR/LR/ER/ZR Transmission with an uncooled directly modulated 850nm VCESE/1310nm DFB/1550nm DFP Laser. The transponder operates within a wide case temperature range of 0°C to +70 °C and offers optimum heat dissipation and excellent electromagnetic shielding which enables high port densities for 10 GbE systems. A 70 pin electrical connector and a duplex SC connector optical interface assure that connectivity is compliant to the Xenpak MSA Rev.3.0.
They can operate over a single wavelength or use dense wavelength-division multiplexing techniques.
